Resting up

After 21 days of hiking about 10 miles a day, I limped into Gatlinburg two days ago with some form of shin splints – did some conservative treatments and feel quite a bit better today so I plan to get back to it . I can’t quite describe Gatlinburg but I’ll let some of these photos do the talking.

A strange mix of natural beauty and very unnatural tourism.

Kevin. I had major blisters on one foot after a 21 mile hike with 8 on pavement in Scotland. Think blisters preferred to shin splints. Happy hiking. Tanya , Pats sister

Hi, Tanya. I’m trying all sorts of things to get past this. I think I’m making some progress. Hi to you and your hiking sisters!

I forgot what that tree is called. It may be a Redbud. Anyway, Uncle Bill asked me to leave this note from him … “When I drove from Cherokee to Gatlinburg I found it tiring. I can’t believe you walked there. Please let me pick you up in Knoxville & take you home.”

Hi to you and uncle bill – I’m really enjoying my time in this part of the country, but it sure is nice to drop into a town every now and then.

Sorry that you were in pain. The town looks like fun to me, especially the moonshine tasting!

Glad you’re feeling better, Kevin. That pretty tree looks like a Rosebud. Uncle Bill used to attend trade shows in Gatlinburg.
