The Boreal Forest

Left the alpine zone yesterday afternoon

Dropped into the boreal forest, dominated by balsam fir (on top) and red spruce (bottom)

Some shots in this part of the forest

? Cranberries

Also saw a few eastern white cedars.

Looking for pine martens, boreal chickadees, moose, and spruce grouse – not to mention  migrating  warblers.

Deep into Maine,

J

Karen and I took a hike in Baxter State Park a few weeks ago. Looked a lot like your photos here. Enjoy Maine – it’s a special place!

Need to bump up your fish species count, bud. Time to take out the cast net and minnow traps and put them to use! Those fish don’t catch themselves …

It is priceless to see the clouds casting shadows on the mountains. You have an exceptional eye for taking photos!
